How to Make and Save Money
As a recent graduate from RIT, I can easily recall the financial hardship of being a college student. I thought to myself - “there has to be an easy way to make and save money.”
This is why I’ve started University of Student Savings (USS) - a completely FREE service to college students. With USS, you can search national and local discounts. The only thing you need to utilize these discounts is a valid student ID.
However, because this organization is extremely new, the discounts available are very limited. I’ve decided that in order to gain as many discounts as possible for students, I’ll need the help of the students - this is where the USS Referral Program comes in (http://www.UofSS.com/makemoney).
The Referral Program (which does not obligate you to ANYTHING) is a very simple tool to help the both of us. I’ve made up some “sales literature” that you may print out and take to local businesses that you think you or other students would benefit from if they offered a student discount. Provide the business with the sheet (your name or Referrer ID will be on the sheet), and if they call to sign up, we send you $100. It’s really that simple. And yes, we will send you $100 for EACH business you help us sign up.
Please look over the USS website (http://www.UofSS.com) - any feedback is greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

I have a question here…
If this is a free service, how are you paying people for the business that sign up? If businesses pay to be part of it, and then offer discounts on top of it, what is the incentive? Is this being sold to the businesses as an advertising thing?
I’m not trying to be difficult and shoot this down, I am just curious. Discounts are always welcome, especially for students. But, I tend to be very skeptical of programs that offer money for basically nothing. So, please fill us in more on how this works. I read the website, but what’s the catch? If you want students to help you recruit businesses, it might be helpful for those business to know approximate costs to them.
Just a thought.
This service is free to college students who are utilizing the discounts being offered. The idea here is to have students help us recruit businesses to list an offering on our site - the cost for the business is $200 per year. We are willing to share 50% of the revenue with the students (or anyone) through this program.
There is no catch, honestly. It’s very simple. If you’re part of this program, the only thing we ask you to do is let businesses know that we exist and that by offering a discount to students, they will not only be helping themselves attract more business, they will be helping students save money - for only $200/ year.
Hopefully this cleared things up. If not, I’d be happy to try and explain this a little more.
“I don’t like spam!”
This is not spam at all… I’m a recent graduate from RIT and have started a business that is aimed at helping college students save money through student discounts - the flip side: because the business is so new, I need students to help me “recruit” businesses to offer student discounts. In return for the help, I’m paying $100 per referral.
